hello all i am new to running a server, yet i have my a+ certification i have not worked on or used servers before i got a computer and am running windows server 2008 datacenter
i would like to set it up as a file server so wen im out working or at frans i can access my files
i have already set up static ip and i figure out setup for a home network but i would like to be able to access from outside the home i can probably figure it out just a need a push in the right direction

You need to open ports in your router to allow you to connect from outside your home network.

You can use the security configuration wizard to set ip based rules so only you can access from remote locations.
